A little of this, a little of that

The weather here in northwest Missouri is beautiful. After off and on rain for a few days, we have clear blue skies, a gentle breeze, temperatures in the mid fifties – Fall. The leaves haven’t started changing much, one tree outside my window now has a few more brownish leaves that will be changing before too long.

These are the kinds of days you think about the beauty God has given us, and determine not to think of the ugliness that fills the world. Of course, like beauty, ugliness is in the eye of the beholder, so thoughts like these can vary in millions of ways.

I just finished participating in a really good six week Bible study. It was good to hear how so many women face the same kinds of ups and downs. To know that though many participating in the study were separated by hundreds of miles, there is still a community. A community of believers.

There are a lot of good people out there that have had to deal with terrible things, and have come out of their situations with a strong faith and love for God. They know, in a profound way, that this is not our permanent home, and what comes ahead, our destination – Heaven, will be incomprehensibly glorious.

Not that going through tough times is easy. There are still sleepless nights, still stomachs that roll, nerves that seem to be on fire. But in it all, there is a peace that only God can give. Jesus said ‘My peace I give to you’…isn’t that amazing? His peace. Not one person, not one thing, can surpass the peace He gives, a peace that really does surpass all understanding.

So, on this beautiful Fall day, as I think of beauty, and the stories I heard from other ladies in the last six weeks, I am reminded that no matter what happens, good or bad, I am never alone. And neither are you if Jesus is your foundation, your friend, your brother, your Lord.

Many blessings my friends.
